Spakenburg en Bunschoten

Fish trade is still an important line of business in Spakenburg. It’s a good place to eat fish.

The fishing village of Spakenburg and adjoining farming village of Bunschoten have been consolidated. Spakenburg has three museums: MuseumHaven, Museum Spakenburg and the Folk Costume and Fishery Museum. The folk costume collection includes more than 120 mannequins wearing historical regional dress for all occasions from christenings and weddings to mourning wear. Visitors can have their pictures taken wearing local costumes. At Oude Haven (Old Harbour) look around a dockyard for botters and admire the fleet of former Zuiderzee fishing boats now used for recreation. Adjacent Museum Spakenburg is a collection of restored houses along an alleyway where the interiors have been transformed into period rooms.
